Would Your Kid Talk To A Stranger?

Every parent likes to think that they have taught their children about safety and not talking to strangers, but how well do our kids really know what’s safe and what’s not safe? This man set out to do a social experiment to see if parents were right about their children when they said that their kids knew their safety rules. The results were quite alarming. Check it out:

So, if a stranger went up to your kid with a puppy, would they go with them?

The real answer to the question may scare you, but it doesn’t have to. It’s important that you talk to your kid about safety more than just once, in fact, they should be reminded every day. Other ways that you can make sure your kid knows their safety rules is to act out a scene or quiz them from time to time. An easy way to help kids understand safety is just to tell them to “Always check with mommy or daddy first before anything.” This wisdom works for young kids when it comes to talking to strangers, but it also works for preteens and teenagers when it comes to making various plans throughout the day. Always ask. It only takes a minute.

When it comes to strangers, you can never be too prepared.

Safety should be everyone’s number one priority.

What to do When You Lock Yourself Out of the Car

lock yourself out

You’re rushing to get to home and you realize that you left something in the office so you run back in really quick to grab it. When you come back outside, you have discovered that the absolute worst has happened…you locked your keys in your car. You instantly want to cry, scream profanities, and shake your fist at the sky. But don’t worry. You can get yourself out of this pickle in no time. You will make it home on time to watch Scandal. With a little determination and these quick steps, you will not be defeated. Here are a few things that you can do if you find yourself in this sticky situation:

Call Roadside Assistance:

If you have AAA, Allstate, or another type of Roadside Assistance membership you’re in luck. These reputable companies rescue helpless souls like you every single day and they are good at it. Take a deep breath, give them a call, and they will get to you as soon as they can. Remember to be nice and patient with your phone representative when they are processing your request. It’s not their fault you locked yourself out your car, don’t take it out on them.

Phone A Friend:

If you have a friend that you know might be nearby, give them a call and tell them that you’ve locked yourself out and ask them if they can take you to pick up your spare key from home. (You should always have a spare car key at home.) Don’t hesitate! That’s what friends are for!

Call A Locksmith:

People often forget that calling your local locksmith is always an option when you are locked out of your home or car. If anyone can help you unlock your car, it’s them! It’s in their name!

Dial 911:

A lot of people didn’t know that police officers can often help you get back into your car if you are locked out. If you are running out of options, give your local police station a call and see if they can do something to help you. If they can’t help you personally, they will do what they can to assist you in finding someone who can.

Call Your Car Dealership:

This option may not always be convenient depending on your proximity to your car dealership. But if you are near your car dealer, some car dealers are able to make you a temporary key for you to use to get back into your car. Call and ask.

Call A Tow Truck:

Many towing companies don’t only tow your car, but they provide lockout services as well. Don’t discount this as an option to help you get back inside of your car.

If you lock yourself out of your car, it doesn’t have to be a dramatic catastrophe. You’ve got options. Los Angeles Lockmaster is committed to providing locksmith services for the Los Angeles area. So You Lost Your Keys…Now What?

lost your keys

Losing your keys can be such a stressful event. Most likely, the keys that you lost had a key to everything, not just your house or your car. If you do lose your keys, there are a few things that you want to make sure that you do:

Look for them!

This may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many people give up so fast. As soon as you lose your keys, look for them. It is a time sensitive situation and you don’t want your keys lingering around the world for too long. Make sure that you retrace your steps and try your best to remember the last place that you had them or used them. Here’s a list of places that you should check:

  • Each room in the house, even if you don’t remember going in them
  • All of your bags or purses
  • Couch cushions
  • Under Your Bed
  • Between the seats of your car
  • Kid’s and pet’s toys
  • Front & back yard
  • Trunk
  • Your job or office
  • Your mailbox

After checking thoroughly in the places that you are in every day, start asking around to places that you remember visiting the day that you lost them.

Ask Around

When asking around for your keys, be careful. You don’t want to shout it to the rooftops that you have lost the keys to your car and home. When asking people try and remember what makes your key ring distinctive so that they can help you identify them. Give them your name and number and ask them if they could call you if your keys turn up.

Get Your Locks Changed

This is certainly a big hassle, but it’s necessary. Unless you lost your keys out of state or out of the country, you will want to get your locks changed just to be on the safe side. If you had keys to your office or anybody else’s car or home, notify them so that you lost your keys so that they can do the same. It doesn’t have to be a big hassle, call your local locksmith and they will take care of it for you as quickly as possible.

Get a New Set of Keys

If after a day or two you still can’t find your keys, go ahead and get a new set of keys. Try to remember every key that you had on your key ring so that you don’t find yourself missing any when you need them most. Get a spare set of keys and keep them in your house just in case this ever happens again.
